Inspiring Minds

KidsBridge

The KidsBridge Summer Learning Program provides rising kindergartners who have not yet had a high-quality early learning experience with a six-week full-day program to help them learn the norms and routines of school. The program will be offered free of charge to students who are registered for Kindergarten in Providence Public Schools for the upcoming school year.

KidsBridge participants attend the program for six hours per day, five days per week and adjust to the routines and procedures of kindergarten to help them transition into school. The program is fun and engaging and children learn through play! Enrichment includes ResilientKids Mindfulness program, SNAP-Ed healthy nutrition, arts and crafts, Junior Achievement, and weekly field trips. Parents/family members are also supported through ongoing parent engagement events and workshops, which will continue into the Kindergarten school year.

The program is taught by certified, experienced teachers with support from Providence’s high school workforce and trained community volunteers.

Explorers Workforce Development Program

Explorers are multilingual and multiethnic youth ages 15-24 who participate in a mentoring program and are provided a paid internship to “explore” the pathway to becoming a teacher in Providence Public Schools. The Explorers program has three components: work readiness skills training, group mentoring, and a work-based learning experience. Explorers are a part of the KidsBridge Summer Learning Program’s classroom team. They will participate in a week of orientation and training with our KidsBridge staff, learning about child development, health and safety, and human resources, preparing the space and planning for the summer. During the 6-week program, Explorers spend four days per week in classrooms supporting students in understanding Kindergarten routines and engaging in play-based academic and social-emotional learning experiences. One day a week is devoted to work readiness skill training and group mentoring.
